About our Festival

The Heavy Horse Festival started in 2007 with the idea of retaining our Australian heritage by holding a heavy horse show in conjunction with the working draft group – the prominent breeds being shown were only Clydesdale & Shire horses.

Our show has grown from year to year with the addition of other heavy horse breeds and also becoming a recognised National Clydesdale Show.

In 2012 the name was changed to the National Clydesdale & Heavy Horse Festival.

Our Festival runs over 2 days with the exception of our 2016 Festival which ran for 3 days over the Australia Day Weekend with the inclusion of the Australian Long Reining Championships.

Our Festival is held annually at:-

National Equestrian Centre Werribee – 170K Road, Werribee South  VIC 3030
